How the NAP consistency checker works
Read your pages
We fetch your home page and, when it links them, your about and contact pages, at most 3 pages. From each we read the Organization or LocalBusiness JSON-LD, tel links, the address in the footer and lines like "since 2014".
Look you up on Wikidata
We search Wikidata for an item whose official website (P856) is your site, then by name, and read its label, inception, headquarters, phone and profiles. Lookups are cached for 30 days.
Compare field by field
Phone numbers and years must match exactly, addresses after normalising punctuation, abbreviations and the country, and names fuzzily, ignoring legal forms such as Ltd or d.o.o.
We read up to 3 pages and the first value of each fact we find; a site with several shops or offices needs one check per location page.
NAP consistency questions
What is NAP consistency?
NAP consistency means your business name, address and phone number are written the same way everywhere they appear: on your own pages, in your structured data, in directories and in databases such as Wikidata. Search engines and AI assistants match facts to a business by these details, so two versions can look like two businesses, or make an answer quote the old one.
Does NAP consistency matter for AI search?
Yes. Assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity answer "where is it" and "how do I call them" from what they find, and they trust facts that agree across sources. A phone number that differs between your contact page and your schema, or a founding year that differs from Wikidata, gives them two answers to pick from.
Which pages should state my address and phone number?
Put them in the footer of every page, in full on your contact page, and once in the Organization or LocalBusiness schema on your home page, written the same way each time. Use the international phone form, for example +385 1 234 5678, in tel links and in the schema, so the digits match exactly.
How do I fix a wrong fact on Wikidata?
Open your item on wikidata.org, edit the statement, for example inception or headquarters location, and add a reference such as your company register entry. Anyone can edit, and you may correct facts about your own organisation, but keep it neutral and sourced. If you have no item yet, the Wikidata presence checker explains when one makes sense.
Why does my schema count as a separate source?
Because machines read it separately from your visible text. Your footer can say one phone number while a plugin writes another into the JSON-LD, often an old one from setup. The checker shows both, so a stale schema field is easy to spot and fix in your SEO plugin settings.
Is this NAP consistency checker free?
Yes, with no sign-up. getReport is funded by donations, not plans. The full website report, also free, checks the rest of your structured data too.
