Questions about AI visibility tools
Should I block AI crawlers?
It depends on what you want. Blocking GPTBot or ClaudeBot keeps your content out of training, but it can also keep you out of the answers and citations those assistants show. The AI crawlers check shows what your robots.txt allows today, bot by bot.
What is llms.txt?
A Markdown file at the root of your site that lists your most important pages with a short description each, so an AI assistant can find them quickly. It is a proposal, not a standard, and not every assistant reads it yet.
Does llms.txt replace robots.txt?
No. robots.txt says which crawlers may fetch which addresses. llms.txt only points to the pages worth reading; it allows or blocks nothing.
Can I see which AI bots visit my site?
Yes. Drop your server access log into the log file analyzer. It counts Googlebot and AI crawlers such as GPTBot and ClaudeBot page by page, in your browser; the log is never uploaded.
